About Us

Mission

The mission of the Center for Career Development is to facilitate educational opportunities that engage students in self-discovery, development and professional transformation, fostering a collaborative community of students, alumni, employers and University partners and friends. We deliver resources and guidance that enable students and alumni to achieve their career goals.

As an active partner in facilitating the Evansville Experience, our office will:

  • Serve as a critical interface between campus and the employment community to promote experiential education, professional employment, and matriculation to graduate/professional school

  • Partner with the UE learning community to assist students in developing self-knowledge, and obtaining educational and career information

  • Facilitate the process of experiential education and assist students in selecting appropriate educational programs

  • Encourage all students, beginning in their first year, to actively manage their career growth through the development of effective job search skills and a career development plan

  • Foster students active engagement of their personal career goals to attain professional employment or admission to graduate/professional school

The Center for Career Development is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (4:30 p.m. during summer). The office is closed on University holidays. Also, evening appointments are available and may be easily arranged. Please call 812-488-1083 to schedule an appointment today.

Services

The Center for Career Development partners with all the colleges and schools of the University of Evansville to deliver quality services and support to all students and alumni. Our services include:

  • Career Advising/Major Exploration/CAP Program: Work one-on-one with a career advisor to create a personalized career development plan, whether you are a current or prospective student.

  • Tru Talent Self-Assessments: The Center for Career Development offers several TruTalent assessments to help students identify their strengths and explore career options that fit their personal profile.

  • Handshake: Post professional documents, view internships, part-time and full-time positions, register for career events, and connect with employers and alumni who are interested in recruiting UE students.

  • Website: Find answers to your career questions at your convenience. The site is full of samples, suggestions, and information to supplement your interaction with the Career Development team.

  • Career Guide/Resources: Extensive online materials are available at zhanmi.net/CareerCenter. Electronic and paper copies available.

  • On-Campus Recruiting: Employers come to campus during the fall and spring semester to conduct interviews and information sessions with our students.

  • Internships/Co-ops: One of the best ways to prepare for the world of work is by obtaining hands-on experience through an internship or co-op. The Center for Career Development can assist you in finding such positions and refer your résumé to employers seeking interns and/or co-op students.

  • Career Fairs & Events: It is never too early to attend a career event to learn about opportunities and network with professionals. Each year the Center for Career Development hosts multiple events open to all majors.

  • Graduate School Assistance: Receive assistance with the graduate school timeline, developing personal statements, and the application process.

  • ACE Pathway: This self-paced career readiness curriculum allows students to identify and market their professional development.

  • Career Advocates: Student leaders provide outreach and initial career development support to undergraduates. Conveniently available in the Career Center on a walk-in basis; no appointment necessary!

  • Résumé/Cover Letter Help: Get feedback or assistance with your résumé or cover letter. Make an appointment with a career coach to hone your documents for potential employers.

  • Workshops and Presentations: The Center for Career Development offers a variety of workshops covering topics such as career readiness, résumés, cover letters, interviewing, job search, and more.

  • Job Search Strategies: The Center for Career Development will help you navigate through the ambiguity of a job search and develop a personalized strategy with your success in mind.

  • Mock Interviews: Practice makes perfect! Sign up for a simulated job interview to enhance your professional communication skills.

  • Stipend: Students completing unpaid internships may be eligible for a stipend. Certain restrictions apply.

  • Alumni Networking: In partnership with the Office of Alumni and Engagement, we assist students with career-related needs and connect them with engaged alumni who will support and champion professional networking opportunities.
